The Story Behind the Expertise
Carlos Sandoval, DNP(c), FNP-C, CANS, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and nationally recognized leader in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. With over 15 years of experience, he has earned roles as Director of Aesthetic Medicine and Lead Clinician at Swan Medical, Clinical Educator for Sciton, Faculty Trainer for the Allergan Medical Institute, and Principal Clinical Study Specialist at Bay Area Laser Lab.
In 2024, Carlos was selected as one of only 22 practitioners nationwide to serve as a BOTOX® Cosmetic Ambassador and Key Opinion Leader for Allergan Aesthetics, where he also contributes to advisory boards for medical affairs and marketing. He is also completing his Doctor of Nursing Practice at San Jose State University, advancing both the nursing profession and the future of aesthetic medicine.
As CEO of Carlos Aesthetic Lasers & Injectables Consulting, PC, he offers training, mentorship, and consulting for providers and practices across the country. His expertise spans injectables, lasers, energy-based therapies, practice strategy, and complication management always grounded in evidence-based medicine and patient safety.
Who is Carlos Sandoval?
Carlos’s story is both personal and purposeful. Born in Mexico and raised in the wine country of Sonoma, California, he grew up as a DACA recipient navigating the challenges of life without documentation. His struggle with cystic acne as a teenager ignited a lifelong passion for skin health and confidence. At just 18, he entered the world of dermatology as a receptionist, quickly moving into a medical assistant role, an early foundation for his future in medicine.
Working full-time while studying, Carlos graduated with honors from San Francisco State University before completing an RN residency at O’Connor Hospital, specializing in ortho, neuro, spine, and medical surgery. This acute care training shaped his commitment to patient safety, a principle that still defines his aesthetic practice today. He went on to earn his master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from San Jose State University, where his graduate work focused on the urgent need for government regulation and specialized training in aesthetics.
Today, Carlos’s immigrant journey is not just a backdrop but a driving force. Every stage of his career from clinical care to podium lectures reflects his dedication to representation, mentorship, and raising standards in aesthetic medicine.
